Khaya Arts On It Again Promoting Community Engagement and Education Through Creative Initiatives
Khaya Arts Academy, a local arts organisation, continues to make a positive impact on the community through its innovative programs.
Recently, the organisation organised a successful event aimed at giving back to the community and supporting education. The event featured music, dance, and community engagement. Bringing joy and entertainment and raised funds to support a needy student’s education.
Khaya Arts Secretary, Hazel Zingani, expressed her excitement about the event’s success, stating, “We were thrilled to see such a positive response from the community. The event, held at Mahlabezulu Primary School, attracted a diverse audience, including Khaya Arts staff, Mahlabezulu Primary School staff, parents, the Bulawayo Action Group, representatives from the Ministry of Arts, Recreation, Sports, and Culture, as well as the Chairman of the Tshabalala Residents Association. The gathering showcased the strong community support and collaboration that Khaya Arts has fostered through its dedication to promoting the arts.
The event featured a range of activities, including performances by the talented students of Khaya Arts Academy’s junior academy, who showcased their skills in music and dance. The audience was enthralled by the young performers, who demonstrated their passion and talent on stage. The event also served as a fundraising opportunity for Khaya Arts. Through generous donations and support from the attendees, the organization managed to raise $350. The funds raised were dedicated to paying the school fees of a needy student, highlighting Khaya Arts’ commitment to education and empowering young individuals.

Clean City
Meanwhile the organisation hosted an educational show focused on the imperative of maintaining Bulawayo as a clean city and restoring its former reputation for cleanliness.
The event, titled the Bukeka Bulawayo Show #KeepingByoClean #PhansiNgokungcolisauByo, took place at the Tshabalala Open Arena starting on Friday.
During an interview with the organisation’s Secretary she revealed that the organisation believes in the power of art to bring about positive change in communities.
