Khaya arts give back to community

Khaya Arts as part of their social responsibility recently raised $320 to support an underprivileged student, Patronella Ncube to clear her outstanding fees dating back to grade 1 through a fundraising event at Masuku Primary School.

Giving Back

In an interview with Khaya Arts Administrator, Trevah Sibanda, he shared, “We organised the event and provided an MC, PA system, and entertainment. Some of the dance performances were from Khaya Arts Academy, the school that was officially launched by the Minister of Provincial Affairs for Bulawayo Province last year.”

Sibanda explained that Khaya Arts is dedicated to giving back to the community and honouring their members of staff by organising fundraising events for underprivileged students in schools they attended.

School Attendance

“We are starting with the schools that were attended by our members of staff. Our member of staff who attended Masuku Primary is Tinotenda Moto. We are doing the same event on the 13th of March 2024 at Mahlabezulu Primary School in honour of Hazel Zingani and Masline Sibanda, the members of staff who attended this school,” he said.

Additionally, Khaya Arts is in discussions with Lighthouse Secondary School in Pumula South to conduct a similar fundraising event in the near future.

Sibanda expressed their commitment to supporting orphanages and underprivileged families in the community, stating, “We wish to continue helping those in need and making a positive impact in the lives of others.”

For the Community

The event not only helped Ncube but also brought the community together as there was a good number of parents in attendance, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture.

With their dedication to giving back and uplifting the community through arts and fundraising efforts, Khaya Arts is making a difference in the lives of underprivileged students and families. Their recent event at Masuku Primary School is just the beginning of their efforts to support those in need and promote a sense of community and togetherness.
