Entrepreneurship at the Centre of ZITF 2024 Edition
Entrepreneurship is set to take centre stage at this year’s Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) as the event gears up to kick off under the theme: “Entrepreneurship: The Catalyst for Industrialisation and Trade.”
As the theme suggests, ZITF 2024 will focus on the vital role that entrepreneurs play in driving industrialization and trade. Addressing the media during a press conference at the ZITF VIP Lounge, ZITF Company board chairman, Busisa Moyo emphasised the importance of creating an enabling environment for entrepreneurs to thrive and succeed.
“Entrepreneurs do not operate in a vacuum. They rely on a thriving industrial ecosystem. The theme of ZITF 2024 recognizes this and seeks to foster collaboration between established players and agile entrepreneurs,” he explained.
Following a successful sales and promotion campaign launched in January, which saw 94.9 percent of the net space available for sale already booked, the market response has been nothing short of positive.
Moyo also revealed the strong uptake of exhibition space by both local and foreign exhibitors.
“The booking situation this year is at par with the same time last year, with almost 95 percent of the available space already booked. In addition, we are pleased to announce that 19 foreign nations will be represented at ZITF 2024,” Moyo shared.
The international exhibits at this year’s event will cover a wide range of sectors, including agricultural produce and equipment, art and craft, automotive equipment, education, food and food processing, clothing, textiles, footwear, and cultural exchange programs. This diverse range of exhibits is expected to create a dynamic and engaging environment for both exhibitors and visitors.
In terms of exhibitor numbers, there has been a significant increase compared to the same time last year.
“We currently have 495 direct exhibitors, a 13 percent increase from the 439 exhibitors who had expressed interest by this time last year. This growth in exhibitor numbers reflects the growing interest and participation in ZITF,” Moyo stated.
Moyo assured that with strong booking numbers, diverse international exhibits, and a focus on entrepreneurship, the trade fair is poised to be a platform for collaboration, innovation, and growth in the business community.
