Jupiler SDA Youth League’s Chairman urges youth to stay focused on their dreams
As Zimbabwe celebrate Youth Day on the 21st of February, the Chairman of the Jupiler SDA Youth League, Thokozani Ncube, has emphasised the importance of staying focused on one’s dreams and believing in oneself.
“My advice to the youth is that they must always remain on the train of their dreams, keep believing in themselves because everything starts in the mind and what you feed it,” Ncube said. “If you dream big, you will always have a big vision, therefore drawing positive energy within yourself.”
Positive Mindset
Ncube also highlighted the dangers of comparing oneself to others, noting that “comparison is the thief of all joy.” He encouraged young people to focus on positivity and avoid negative thinking, as luck and opportunities tend to favour those who aim high and maintain a positive outlook on life.
Youth Day in Zimbabwe is a time to celebrate the energy, creativity, and potential of the country’s young people. It provides an opportunity to reflect on the challenges they face and the opportunities that lie ahead. In a country where the youth make up a significant portion of the population, addressing their needs and empowering them to reach their full potential is crucial for the nation’s development.
Despite the Challenges
Despite the many challenges that young people in Zimbabwe face, including high unemployment rates, limited access to education and healthcare, and political instability, there are also opportunities for growth and success. With the right support, guidance, and determination, the youth of Zimbabwe can overcome these obstacles and contribute positively to the country’s future.
Jupiler SDA Youth League Thrives Under Dynamic Leadership
Ncube expressed pride in bringing youths together from various churches to participate in sports as incumbent chairman of the Jupiler SDA Youth League, noting that this has been instrumental in the league’s expansion and popularity. He highlighted the importance of fostering talent and providing opportunities for young players to showcase their skills, with a keen eye on unearthing potential professional athletes.
High-quality Matches
One of the most significant contributions Ncube believes he has made to the league is the emphasis on high-quality soccer matches, fairness, and the encouragement of players to prioritise education alongside sports. He stressed the importance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving the league’s goals, acknowledging the support of his vice chairman and board members in driving the league forward.
Despite the successes, Ncube also shared some of the challenges faced by the league, particularly the lack of sponsorship, which remains a pressing issue. However, he noted that the league has worked with limited funds contributed by teams to continue operating and supporting its activities.
Looking ahead, Ncube expressed his passion for soccer and a desire to stay involved in supporting the league, particularly in seeking sponsorship opportunities to aid in its development. He emphasised the importance of being a good listener and working well with people in leadership roles, lessons he hopes his successor will embrace for continued growth and success.
Driving Force
The Jupiler SDA Youth League’s vision of fostering fellowship through sport and promoting adventism and Christianity through soccer has been a driving force behind its activities. With a commitment to providing meaningful activities for youths on Sundays and creating a positive environment for players to thrive, the league has become a valuable asset within the community.
As Ncube prepares to hand over the reins to the next leader, he offered advice on maintaining the quality of soccer played, promoting fairness, and encouraging education among players. He also mentioned his intention to play a role in sponsorship initiatives to support the league’s growth even after stepping down from his current role.
