Inspired by Her Grandmother
Bridget Mupupuni is a 32 year old exceptional drawing artist with an incredible talent for creating art that speaks to the heart of her viewers. Her journey as an artist started when she was just a little girl, inspired by her grandmother who used to do art and knitting. Whenever Bridget’s grandmother was working on her latest art piece or knitting project, she would watch in awe as her grandmother fascinated by the creative process.
Endless Passion
Furthermore, as Bridget grew older, her passion for art continued to grow, and she started experimenting with different mediums and techniques. However, her journey as an artist has not been a smooth one, as she had to face numerous challenges along the way.
From an early age, the artist has been drawn to the world of art. They have a special talent for creating beautiful and captivating images that capture the imagination of those who see them. Their love and fascination for drawing and painting started with just a pencil and piece of paper, which is all they needed to take their first steps as an artist.
Biggest Challenges
Moreover, one of the biggest challenges that Bridget faced was a shortage of resources. Living in a rural areas of Plumtree, she did not have access to the latest art supplies or equipment. However, she refused to let this hold her back and often found creative ways to make do with what she had.
Negativity
Nevertheless, despite her persistence, Bridget also had to deal with negativity from people in her area who did not understand her passion for art. Some even went as far as dismissing her talent as a waste of time. This negativity could have discouraged most people, but it only fueled Bridget’s drive to succeed even more.
Learning from Other Artists
Additionally, the artist has never been formally trained, their natural talents have been nurtured by supportive artists who have helped them to improve and develop their skills. They have also attended workshops conducted by the Ministry of Youth, Art and Recreation, where they had the opportunity to learn from other artists and interact with like-minded individuals. These workshops gave her the opportunity to meet and learn from other artists, who shared their expertise and insights to help her improve as an artist.
She has an uncanny ability to depict the beauty of nature with their artwork, a quality that has impressed many of their peers. Their latest project involves creating images of the animals in the Bubye Valley Conservancy, which they hope will be showcased at an exhibition in the near future. The artist is also passionate about using their artistic skills to raise awareness about conservation issues, and their work is a reflection of their love for the natural world.
When asked about their inspiration, the artist talked about some of their favorite artists. They admire Kadelwa Joab Ndlovu for their animation work, Franklin Mpofu for their pencil art in Plumtree, Lo Mandy for their broken glass creations in Bulawayo, Zie from Gwanda, and LoDicent from the Midlands for their paintings. These artists inspire the artist to continue to create and improve their craft.
