Call for Collaboration and Investment in ICT Industry
Zimbabwe’s Industry and Commerce Calls for Collaboration
Industry and Commerce Deputy Minister Modi challenged businesses and investors to collaborate and work towards creating solutions in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry, emphasizing the importance of communication and character in driving industry growth and development of the country.
Minister Raj Modi speaking at Powertel’s Breakfast interface held recently in Bulawayo, emphasized the role of ICT in promoting innovation, intrapreneurship, and equitable development in Zimbabwe’s national development strategy and vision 2030.
Business Growth
“To ensure optimal business and economic growth, we must advocate for and increase investment into ICT infrastructure to facilitate the rapid absorption of information and provide timely, efficient, and effective customer service,” said Modi.
Modi also said there was need for the country to invest in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Broadband Connection
“The availability of affordable broadband connectivity is a positive development to the business community, hence we must all embrace it,” stated Modi
Modi applauded Powertel for its contributions to the growth of the ICT industry in Zimbabwe, through deliberate efforts in ecological research and expanding access to the internet, particularly in rural communities.
National Electricity Project
He also commended Powertel’s National Electricity project, which uses artificial intelligence to monitor, maintain and model energy usage, ensuring optimal business and economic growth.
Powertel’s Acting Managing Director, Willard Nyagwande speaking after the event, expressed his appreciation for the government’s support in enabling ICT industry growth. He also reaffirmed Powertel’s commitment to innovation and excellence, with a focus on delivering quality service to its customers.
Improving Customer Satisfaction
Powertel’s Marketing Manager, Prosper Mutswiri acknowledged the importance of comforting customers during difficult times, such as power outages and service disruptions. He emphasized the company’s focus on engaging customer experiences and addressing customer desires.
