Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Chairman Proposes Innovative Strategies to Encourage Participation and Affordable Lodging
In an effort to foster a vibrant platform for economic growth and trade opportunities in Zimbabwe, Chairman of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), Busisa Moyo has highlighted the importance of affordable lodging and proposed increased flight frequency as an innovative strategy to encourage participation in the upcoming International Business Conference.
Moyo emphasised the crucial role affordable lodging plays in encouraging participation, particularly for those attending the International Business Conference. He highlighted how the availability of flights and affordable accommodation are pivotal factors that influence attendees’ decisions to participate in the event.
Travel Logistics
“In an ideal world, participants would fly in for the conference, attend the day’s proceedings, and fly back in the evening. This would alleviate the need for overnight stays and reduce costs,” Moyo stated. “However, the current reality is that the demand for lodging remains high due to the influx of conference attendees. This demand places a strain on the affordability of rooms.”
To address this issue, Moyo proposed increasing the frequency of flights to and from the event venue. By expanding the number of available flights, particularly during peak hours, the demand for lodging could potentially decrease, making participation more accessible to a broader audience.
“The availability of flights is critical in removing the need for overnight stays. If we can maximise the number of flights during peak conference hours, we can significantly alleviate the pressure on accommodation,” Moyo explained. “This will not only attract more participants but also ensure that those who attend can do so without facing exorbitant costs.”
Attendance Concerns
The ZITF Chairman also acknowledged the concern of attrition, where potential participants opt out due to the unaffordability of attending the event. “Attrition poses a significant risk to the sustainability of the ZITF. If we cannot attract new participants to replace those who drop out, the event’s growth will be hampered,” Moyo cautioned.
In line with this, Moyo stressed the need to increase efforts to promote participation, both locally and internationally. By implementing targeted marketing strategies and forging partnerships with businesses and organisations, the ZITF aims to expand its reach and attract a diverse pool of attendees.
Success of ZITF
Moyo expressed commitment to ensuring the continued success of the ZITF.
“We recognize the challenges we face, but we also see the immense potential for growth. By addressing issues of affordability and actively promoting participation, we can secure the future of the ZITF as a premier trade fair,” he asserted.
As the ZITF gears up for its upcoming edition, the chairman’s insights and proposed strategies will undoubtedly shape the discussions and decisions surrounding the event. With increased focus on affordable lodging, frequent flights, and proactive marketing, the ZITF aims to foster a vibrant platform that attracts a multitude of participants from around the world, fueling economic growth and trade opportunities in Zimbabwe.
