Bulawayo Burglars Arrested with Stolen Electronics Worth over $4,000
Three men have been arrested in Bulawayo for aggravated unlawful entry into premises and theft of electronics worth over $9,000.
According to Bulawayo Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Ncube, the arrests were made on July 6th after members of the public provided information that led officers to informal settlements near the Elangeni Training Centre and the National Archives, where the suspects were located.
“We confirm the arrest of Chemhere Arold, a male adult aged 23 years residing in Khumalo, Bulawayo, Manhiri Cleopas, a male adult aged 32 years who resides in a bushy area behind Elangeni Training Centre, Bulawayo and Mpofu Brian a male adult aged 38 years of Pumula South, Bulawayo for unlawful entry into premises committed in aggravating circumstances which occurred in Paddonhurst, Bulawayo,” said Inspector Ncube.
Inspector Ncube revealed that a search of the suspects’ shacks led to the recovery of a 65-inch Hisense television, two Samsung smartphones, an Apple iPad, an Apple laptop, chargers, and a tools box. The total value of the stolen property was estimated at $4,800, with $4,700 recovered.
“On the 06th July 2024 police reacted to the information which was supplied by the members of the public which led them to the squatter dwellings near Elangeni Training Centre and the National Archives where the police searched the shacks and they managed to recover a 65 inch Hisense Television, Samsung S20, Samsung S21, an Apple IPad, An Apple laptop, chargers and a tools box, and the accused were then arrested,” Inspector Ncube said.
He added, “The total value of the stolen property was US$4 800-00 and US$4 700-00 was recovered.”
The police have commended the members of the public for providing the information that led to the arrests, and have warned others against engaging in criminal activities.
“Police would like to appreciate the members of the public for supplying information that led to the arrest of the accused persons,” Ncube appreciated.
He warned, “We also warn members of the public to desist from committing crimes because they are going to be arrested.”
