Bulawayo Man Killed Over Beer.
Murdered at a Bottle Store
Bulawayo Spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and said Nleya (34) from Dunstall Farm, Umguza was murdered at a bottle store.
Police in Bulawayo have launched a manhunt for Vusumuzi Khumalo, a 20-year-old male adult who allegedly murdered Khulani Nleya following a misunderstanding over beer.
At Umguza
“On the 14th May 2023 at around 2000 hours, the now deceased was at a bottle store at Umguza, drinking beer in the company of other villagers. One of the patrons mistakenly knocked down the now deceased’s beer bottle,” Inspector Ncube said.
He added, “This did not go well with the now deceased and a misunderstanding arose between them. The accused person who was standing nearby, intervened and started quarreling with the now deceased, accusing him of causing trouble.”
Excessive Bleeding
However, instead of diffusing the situation, the accused person picked up a snooker stick and assaulted the victim multiple times until it broke. He then proceeded to stab the victim once on the forehead with an Okapi knife, causing a deep cut that resulted in excessive bleeding.
The victim was rushed to Mpilo Hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit but later succumbed to his injuries. A police report was filed, and the accused person is currently on the run.
In light of the incident, Inspector Ncube, urged members of the public not to take matters into their own hands, especially when under the influence of alcohol.
Appeal to the Public
He also appealed to anyone with information about the accused person’s whereabouts to come forward and assist the police.
“We appeal to members of the public with information that may assist in the location of the accused person to come forward,” said Inspector Ncube.
