Minister of State for Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution funds, Judith Ncube, praises teachers for providing quality education despite challenges
Minister of State for Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution funds, Judith Ncube
acknowledged the efforts of the teachers in providing quality education despite the challenges faced by the schools in the province.
Minister Ncube said this yesterday during a tour at St Columbas High School on January 25, 2024 where the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education was addressing school headmasters and headmistress.
She said, “With high enrollments in public schools, it becomes difficult to provide adequate infrastructure, but the teachers are doing their best to ensure quality education.”
Impressive Results
She also mentioned that despite these challenges, most schools in the province have produced impressive results in grade seven and ordinary level examinations in 2023.
She further highlighted the importance of keeping up to date with trends in education to equip the students with relevant skills that will assist them even after their school years. The province is already offering a number of technical vocational learning areas, ensuring that the children are prepared to compete for opportunities internationally.
The Minister stated the need for schools to continuously improve and evolve to meet the demands of modern education. She also praised the efforts of the teachers and urged them to continue providing quality education to the students.

Concerns and Challenges
On the other hand, school heads from the province had the opportunity to engage with the Ministers and share their concerns and challenges. They discussed the need for additional schools to accommodate the high enrollments, as well as the importance of adequate infrastructure to support quality education. The Ministers assured the school heads that their concerns would be taken into consideration and necessary steps would be taken to address them.
She also highlighted the significance of such gatherings in the improvement of education as a service to the nation and emphasised the role of education in national development.
