Bulawayo Vendor killed for Overcharging his goods
A 46 year old man was assaulted and left for dead by two unknown men after they accused him of overcharging the prices of razor blades and cigarettes on the evening of June 21, 2023.
Moreover, according to Acting Bulawayo Police Spokesperson,Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, the incident happened on 21 june 2023 around 2000 hours, Dumisani Mpala, a vendor, was at his vending stall at sign post, Cowdray Park, bulawayo when he was approached by two accused persons.
“One of the accused persons enquired about the prices of the razor blades and cigarettes,” Msebele said. She added, “After they were told the price, the two unknown accused persons started shouting at Dumisani Mpala accusing him of overcharging his products and that they wanted to teach him a lesson.”
Brutal Assault
Furthermore, Msebele explained that one of the accused persons picked a hammer which was on the ground near the vending stall and hit Mpala on the head and the other accused person also picked a stick and assaulted Mpala several times all over the body until he collapsed.
Unfortunately, the two accused persons then fled from the scene leaving the now deceased with a cut on the forehead and some bruises all over the body.
A police report was made, and the vendor was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. However, his injuries were severe, and he eventually succumbed to them on June 27 while still receiving treatment at Mpilo hospital.
The Search
Lastly, the police are investigating the murder and have urged members of the public to come forward with any information that may assist in the apprehension of the two accused persons.
“We ask that you come forward and help us in our investigation so that we can ensure that justice is served,” said Msebele.
