DHL Security Guard Arrested for Theft of Cash Worth US$1,815and ZAR 2,400
A 26-year old security guard at the DHL main office in Entumbane, has been arrested over allegations of unlawful entry and theft of cash worth US$1,815 and ZAR 2,400.
Bulawayo Police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the arrest of Malvin Chimange, an employee at DHL who is accused of breaking into the offices where he was employed using unknown means to open the doors.
“During the period from 3 July 2023 up to 15 August 2023 the accused person was breaking into the offices using unknown means to open,” said Inspector Ncube.
He added, “While inside, he was targeting cash from different offices. Firstly he stole US$3,15 from the first office, the money was inside a drawer. He went on to the next office and took US$6,00. On another date the accused person used the same style of breaking in and stole US$9,00 and ZAR 2,400 from another office.”

Caught on CCTV
Inspector Ncube also revealed that on the 11th of August 2023 the CCTV footage was viewed and it showed the accused person stealing the money leading to his arrest. Total value stolen is US$1,815 and ZAR 2,400 and US$ 1,460 and ZAR 2,400 was recovered.
In response to this incident, Inspector Ncube said, “As police we urge companies to guard against inside job crimes, clearly these crimes were committed by someone who was supposed to guard the premises.”
Over the past few years, the number of cases involving security personnel stealing has increased. According to experts, the trend may be linked to the low wages paid to those in the security industry.
Ongoing Investigation
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a robbery case of more than US$122,000 which occurred at a certain security company cash-in-transit office in Thorngrove West, Bulawayo, on 16 August 2023 at around 1220 hours.

The suspects snatched a satchel which had US$122,598 and sped off in their get-away vehicle.
