Friends Apprehended for Attempted Murder Case
Two Arrested for Attempted Murder: A Violent Altercation Leaves a Friend Hospitalised
Two men from Pumula North were apprehended for allegedly teaming up attempting to murder their friend on February 8 after an altercation when they were drinking beer together.
According to Bulawayo Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube, Nhlanhla Hobane (35) and Victor Mazorodze (35), face charges of attempted murder after a violent altercation with their friend, Innocent Phuthi.
“On the 8th of February 2024 at around 1900 hours, the complainant, and his three friends were drinking beer. The complainant and the two accused persons picked an argument and had a misunderstanding over an undisclosed matter,” said Inspector Ncube.
The Assault
He continued, “The two accused persons teamed up and started to assault the complainant with booted feet and fists several times all over the body. They then used an unknown object to strike him on the head. He sustained a cut on the forehead and started bleeding. He then fell down and became unconscious.”
A police report was made leading to the arrest of the two accused persons. Phuthi was rushed to Mpilo Hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
Commenting on the incident, the police spokesperson issued a stern warning to the public.
Violence Isn’t the Answer
“We urge members of the public to desist from picking unnecessary fights as they risk committing murder cases in the name of a simple fight,” he emphasised.
He added, “Engaging in any form of crime affects individuals as they will spend time attending courts or even being imprisoned leaving families without anyone to provide food.”
According to reports, most of murder cases emanate from disputes at beer outlets which is a worrying concern to the police.
