Police Arrest 65 Year Old Landlord for Rape of 9 Year Old Girl in Njube
Bulawayo Republic Police have arrested 65-year-old for allegedly raping a 9-year-old girl during extra lessons session. The accused, who is also the landlord of the victim’s parents, exploited his position of trust to commit the crime, turning a learning opportunity into a nightmare.
According to Bulawayo Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube, the young victim had gone to the accused’s residence for extra lessons in English and Mathematics along with a friend.
“During the lesson, the accused called the girl into his bedroom under the pretence of retrieving science textbooks,” Ncube stated.
He added, “Once inside, he grabbed her from behind, threatened her with violence, and raped her twice.”
The horrifying details of the incident reveal that after the assault, the accused took explicit photographs of the victim before sending her back to join her friend in the sitting room. The young girl, traumatised by the event, did not disclose the incident to anyone immediately. It was only the following day that her mother discovered nude images of her daughter on her phone, sent from an unknown number.
“Upon receiving those pictures, I was horrified and immediately questioned my daughter,” the victim’s mother recounted. “It was then that she bravely opened up about what had happened to her.” This revelation led the family to file a police report, prompting the authorities to act swiftly.
In light of this event, Inspector Ncube urged the community to take preventive measures when it comes to their children’s safety.
“We encourage parents to be vigilant and cautious when allowing their children to engage with adult tutors,” he said. “This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can lurk behind trusted facades.”
The police have charged the accused ith multiple counts of rape and sexual assault, and he is currently in custody as investigations continue. “We are committed to ensuring that justice is served for this innocent child,” Ncube added.
