A security officer has been apprehended for allegedly stealing money amounting to more than US12 000 dollars and 900 Rands at his work place with his cousin.
Caston Kuchena (41) of Entumbane, Bulawayo allegedly provided information to his cousin Calpher Caliph Karonga (31) of mashoko village, Shurugwi that there was cash inside the safe at his work place.

According to Bulawayo Spokesperson lnspector Abednico Ncube it was revealed that Kuchena, a security officer supplied information to his cousin Karonga that there was cash inside the safe at his work place and the two then met in Bulawayo cbd to buy a blasting dynamite an explosive which they used to open the safe.
On the same day at around 2130 hours and while on duty, Kuchena sent a text message to Karonga inviting him to come to his workplace. Upon arrival, he assisted him to gain entry into the premises and showed him the safe room and left him blasting the safe. The total value stolen is US12 132 dollars and 900 Rands.
Busted
Unfortunately, Kuchena later raised an alarm that there was a break in and the response team arrived earlier than they had expected and before they could make good their deal leading to the arrest of the cousin Karonga hiding within the premises.
During the arrest of the accused, another team from a different security company joined to assist leading to some allegations that they also stole some money which was stolen from the safe by Calip.
A total of us$12 132 and zar900 was stolen from the safe and us$3588 and r50 was recovered from the accused person and the response team which had stolen the money during the arrest of Calip.
In light of the incident Insp Ncube said, “Cases of dishonest are manifesting in security companies and many other work places. Some robbery and unlawful entry cases are engineered from within work places. Deployment of manpower need to be obvious so as to give people with a tendency of conniving with relatives no room to accomplish their criminal missions.”
Ncube also said that the accused persons are assisting the police with investigations.
