The Enlargement Hustle in Bulawayo
Social media streets are littered with advertisements from self-proclaimed traditional doctors and herbalists promising to offer concoctions, pills and drugs to help men up their skill sets in the bedroom.
From ceregra, camagra gel, nitro plus enlargement cream Spanish fly to herbal oil. The herbs pills and oils are everywhere. These are mostly made for men who believe in the “bigger is better” catch phrase.
As a man in a porn-drenched world filled with monstrously hung men, one is probably tempted to change themselves. And judging one’s genitalia is something that happens whether we care to speak about it or not and men and women are equally guilty of feeding this insecurity.
However, male reactions to notions of penis size tend to vary. Some guys seem happy to operate with what they have. According to one Bulawayo based social media influencer, it is all about the “pipe that you bring to the bedroom that sets the mouth alight”. Others believe that as a man you must have a third leg.
An Enlarged Market
Women of course don’t hesitate to concord with their views, many maintain that size does not matter, rather it is how the “man puts it down” and they’re not interested in size as they are “a nightmare of pain” and at times “too large to occupy the space afforded them”. But it just needs to be right. And men at times get worried if what they have is okay!
There are enough men trying to get bigger, being influenced by peers. In Bulawayo, the penis enlargement business is spearheaded mostly by truck drivers and the drugs land in illegally from Asia, with countries such as India and China as the most popular distributors.
Depending on the strength of the medication and shipping costs, prices can range from $10 – $150 with products coming in a variety of forms, including powders, pills and lotions.
Contact details of these suppliers and herbalists are prominently displayed on their Facebook pages, WhatsApp adverts and groups, with mobile numbers email and physical addresses.
One WhatsApp advert says their cream and pills works by increasing blood flow to the erectile chambers and over time, the chambers themselves will begin to expand and create “larger, thicker and more powerful erections.”
To find out exactly how easy it is to acquire these remedies, this journalist directly in boxed a number on Whats App under the guise of needing “sex enlargement pills”.
An initial text message inquiry about the product was followed by the seller replying to authorise his interest after which he proceeded to double text, asking ‘where I had gone to and if I was still interested in the product’.
Are These Really “Natural” Remedies?
Having contacted a number of suppliers, the key word that kept coming up with respect to ingredients was “natural”. One supplier in Bulawayo said his creams were made from herbs that he sourced from Zambia and therefore have zero side effects.
A complete pack – cream to rub on and powder to put in hot water would cost $50, a pack containing 6 big power capsules would go for $40, he says.
Moreover, another supplier told this journalist that his product, called Maca Gel, was made by a ‘herbalist group’ and would set me back $35. Both assured that the products have no side effects because they are made of pure herbs, and they rely on the courier service to deliver their products wherever there were customers.
But most people are sceptical that the goods have any effect and they are convinced the products would not give the anaconda hoped for.
Lastly, regardless of the inefficacy of these enhancement creams, pills and powders, or the fact that size doesn’t matter to most women, penis size continues to be a concern for men, there will be some desperate enough to try anything for a bigger unit.
