UNICEF launches project to showcase adolescent’s initiatives in Zimbabwe
UNICEF Zimbabwe is inviting adolescents from across the country. The aim is to share their experiences as actors of change in their communities through short social media videos.
Furthermore, the project, which was launched on Tuesday. It is part of the UNICEF campaign Nothing for Us, Without Us. Which aims to highlight the situation and the power of adolescents aged 10 to 19 years in Zimbabwe.

Community Challenges
Moreover, Chief Communication UNICEF Zimbabwe, Yves Willemot said, “Many adolescents in Zimbabwe are setting up activities to address community challenges. They work on issues related to various issues, including climate change, education, health, child protection, inclusion, sports and recreation, arts and culture, mental health, skill development, drugs and substance abuse, etc.”
“Their work shows how adolescents can make a difference for the better in their communities,” she added.
Additionally, the project, which is supported by the communication agency Adrenaline, will run until 16 November. Adolescents can send their videos to UNICEF through WhatsApp on 078 465 65 07. The videos should be natural, creative, cheerful and optimistic and show what the adolescents are doing in their communities. The best videos will be selected to feature on the digital platforms of UNICEF and media houses as part of the campaign.

Inspiring the Youths
“We want to make the adolescent’s initiatives visible to all and inspire other adolescents. Through this project, we hope to create a platform for adolescents to share their ideas and best practices and encourage them to be engaged in their communities and make positive choices,” Willemot explained.
The campaign Nothing for Us, without Us also showcases the programme work done by the Government of Zimbabwe, UNICEF and their partners for adolescents to address their needs.
Lastly, according to UNICEF, there are about 4.5 million adolescents in Zimbabwe who face various challenges such as poverty, violence, early marriage, teenage pregnancy, HIV and AIDS and lack of access to quality education and health services.
