Woman Raped and Robbed Near a Nightclub
A 30-year-old woman of Nketa 7, was raped and robbed near a popular nightclub in Bulawayo. The police are urgently appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the accused individual.
According to Acting Bulawayo Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, the victim had been enjoying an evening with friends at a nightclub in close proximity to Mpilo Hospital.
She said, “On the 8th of July 2023 at around 0000 hours, the complainant was at a nightclub, near Mpilo hospital drinking beer with her friends. She went outside to relieve herself at a nearby bush, when she was about 200 metres away from the club, the accused person started throwing some stones at her, he then grabbed her by the neck and threatened to stab her with a knife if she screamed.”
Assistant Inspector further explained that the accused then forcibly dragged the victim to a secluded area near West Park cemetery, which was densely covered in bushes. There, he callously removed her trousers and forced her to lie on her back. The victim endured the horrifying experience of being raped without any form of protection.
Following the assault, the perpetrator proceeded to search her pockets, stealing her Huawei Nova Y70 plus cellphone, cash amounting to ZAR360.00, as well as her earrings, before fleeing the scene.
The traumatized victim reported the incident to the police on 9th July prompting immediate action by law enforcement.
In light of the incident, Assistant Inspector Msebele said, “We are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of an accused person who raped and robbed a female adult aged 30 of Nketa 7, Bulawayo.”
