Robbery Suspect Shot by Police in Queens Park.
A 35-year-old suspected robber has been shot on the stomach after attempting to disarm a police officer during a raid in Queens Park, Bulawayo, following a robbery case in Mahatshula North on Saturday afternoon.
National Spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed a shooting incident which took place in Queens Park, Bulawayo, involving a robbery suspect, James Moyo (35), on April 20, 2024.
Ass Commissioner Nyathi in a statement said, “The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a shooting incident involving a robbery suspect, James Moyo (35), which occurred in Queens Park, Bulawayo on 20 April 2024.”
Shopping Center Robbery
“The shooting incident follows the arrest of the suspect as well as Tinashe Dembure (29) and Mthulisi Maphosa (29) for robbery at Gunya Shopping Centre, Mahatshula North, Bulawayo on 20th April 2024 at around 1500 hours,” Ass Commissioner Nyathi added.
According to the National Spokesperson, Moyo was shot in the stomach while attempting to disarm a police officer, who was armed with a CZ pistol.
Police Warning
In light of this incident, Ass Commissioner Nyathi reiterated the police force’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
He said, “The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that any form of confrontation with police officers, by criminals, will be met with appropriate response. Meanwhile, the injured suspect was immediately rushed to United Bulawayo Hospitals for medical treatment.
