The Inspiring Story of Calvin Buphilo Nleya
Calvin Buphilo Nleya, also known as CBN, is the founder and CEO of CBN Contractors, a leading supplier and installer of wire and roofing products in the region. His story is an inspiring one full of determination and self-motivation.
From humble beginnings in rural Inyathi, a young boy named Calvin was determined to change his circumstances through education, determination and hard work.
Furthermore, growing up in a village, Calvin enjoyed the simple life but was aware that he needed to study hard to achieve his goals. In spite of numerous challenges, including school fees crises, Calvin managed to complete his primary and secondary education.
Becoming Team Leader
In 2013, Calvin was employed by Maranatha Volunteers International as an assistant builder. He quickly rose through the ranks to become a team leader in the construction of steel structures. He enjoyed building schools and churches and became skilled at building two structures a day.
However, on his days off, Calvin did piecework roofing, and soon, he began to earn more than his monthly salary. This motivated him to start his own company.”I used to get called CBN, and I transformed it to CBN Contractors because of the work I was doing. In November 2017, I resigned from Maranatha and started my own company,” Calvin recalls.
Competitive Pricing
CBN Contractors has several advantages, including competitive pricing, high-quality service, and shorter turnaround times than the industry standard.
The company has completed numerous projects, including dome structures, portal frame shades, and fences. Although the business is headquartered in Matabeleland Province, they can cover the whole country.
Self Motivation is Key
Moreover, Calvin believes that self-motivation is the key to success and that learning new skills is essential.
He works with his team, and he learns from others about industry trends and technology. When on-site, safety precautions are taken, and protective clothing is worn to ensure everyone’s well-being.
Strength to Strength
“Over the years, the business has grown from strength to strength, as evidenced by the rapid growth in the client base. We have managed to hone our skills and become a leading installer and supplier of wire and roofing products in the region,” says Calvin.
Lastly, CBN Contractors has a branch in Bulawayo and plans to open another branch in Inyati by the end of the year. Calvin encourages people to believe in themselves so that they can achieve their dreams.
