Mthuli Ncube donates to Vulindlela Primary School in Cowdray Park
Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Prof Mthuli Ncube donated 35 laptops, a borehole and Wi-Fi to Vulindlela Primary School in Bulawayo to promote use of technologies among learners.
Vulindlela Primary School in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo was filled with excitement on Monday as the school received a generous donation from the Minister Ncube.
During the donation ceremony, Prof Ncube spoke about the importance of education and equipping the next generation with the necessary skills for the future.
“We must ensure that our children are well-equipped and have access to the latest technology. With this donation, we hope to empower the learners of Vulindlela Primary School to become the engineers and technicians of the 21st century,” he said.
Accessing Resources
In her appreciation speech, Vulindlela Headmistress, Tshidzane Ngwenya expressed her gratitude on behalf of the school’s staff, SDCS, parents, and learners, saying, “With this noble gesture which has been extended to us, we are really greatly grateful and we promise to put it into good use.”
Ngwenya highlighted the significance of the donation, which will enable vulnerable learners to access resources and improve their computer literacy. She added that the borehole will help the school meet the requirements of the competency-based curriculum 5.0 and educate learners about production, while the Wi-Fi will enable online learning.
Additionally, Minister Ncube emphasized that the donation was not a one-off event, but part of his mission to change Cowdray Park into a silicon and town status.
“We want to continue supporting education in our country. We want to make Cowdray Park and Bulawayo, in general, change its status from being a periphery to being at par with other urban areas in the country,” he said.

Efforts to Improve the School
Ncube hailed the school’s leadership and staff for their passion for education and their efforts to improve the school despite inadequate resources. He pledged to continue supporting the school in its endeavors to transform the institution into a world-class entity.
The Headmistress also revealed the school’s plans to construct two early-childhood-blocks, state-of-the-art sporting facilities, a school bus, and furnish classes.
Lastly, with the support of the community and government, Vulindlela Primary School hopes to become an institution that produces tech-savvy and competent learners who will go on to become the engineers and technicians of the future.
