Young artist calls for recognition and sponsorship
Many young talents in Zimbabwe especially in the art industry yearn for recognition, support and sponsorship. One of the talents is a young and aspiring actress from Bulawayo who has recently expressed her desire to transition from acting to writing. In an exclusive interview, Talent Mathuthu shared her journey and experiences in the acting industry, and highlighted the challenges and opportunities she has faced.
Growing up in Pumula East with her mother’s sisters, Talent had to overcome the tragedy of losing her parents at a very young age. However, she was determined to make a difference in her life and pursued her passion for acting.
It Came Naturally
She said, “I have been acting since I was born. It is something that comes naturally to me. I wish we can all be successful for what we are doing and I wish for us to find sponsors.”
Talent’s talent and perseverance led her to be part of the EKN Acting group in Bulawayo. However, despite her success in acting, Talent now wants to explore her writing skills. “I am an actress who’s willing to improve from acting to be a writer,” she said.
Although Talent is not yet experienced in selecting themes and topics for productions, she believes that her acting skills and passion will help her in her new journey.
The Audience
“I guess it’s my acting skills. I always see improvement because I always see dancers,” she said when asked how she engages with audiences.
Despite her enthusiasm, Talent acknowledges that there are several challenges that actors in Zimbabwe face.
She said, “Zimbabwe is not interested in their talents. I guess it will be better if they concentrate on how talented Zimbabwe is.”
However, Talent is optimistic about the future of theater and acting in Zimbabwe. She believes that with more support and investment, Zimbabwe can produce more talented actors and actresses.
Finding Sponsors
When asked about her plans and goals for the EKN Acting group, Talent expressed her wish to become successful and find sponsors so that she can be one of the best actresses in Zimbabwe and beyond.
Talent’s story is one of determination, perseverance, and passion. Despite facing several challenges in her life, she has continued to pursue her dreams and inspire others to do the same.
Lastly, her commitment to acting and her desire to explore new opportunities in writing make her a role model for aspiring actors and writers in Zimbabwe and beyond.
