City of Bulawayo Implements Measures to Improve Parking Management System
Bulawayo City Council has partnered with Tendy Three Investments Pvt Ltd (TTI) to implement a range of measures that aim to address various concerns raised by the public. These measures were discussed during a meeting between the Mayor of the City of Bulawayo, Senator David Coltart, and the Senior Management of TTI on May 3.
One of the key issues discussed was the handling of clamped vehicles driven by the elderly, disabled, and individuals in ill health.
Recognizing the need to reduce the turnaround time in these cases, Senator David Coltart stated, “We have agreed to expedite the process for releasing clamped vehicles driven by vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly, disabled, and those in ill health. Our aim is to ensure that these individuals face minimal inconvenience and receive prompt assistance.”
To improve accessibility, TTI will now prominently display the Call Centre phone numbers (086 88 006 707) on all tickets issued to the public. This move aims to make it easier for individuals who have been clamped or have complaints to reach out to the Call Centre.
Senator Coltart emphasised, “We want to ensure that members of the public have clear and visible contact information to seek assistance when needed.”
In addition to addressing immediate concerns, the City of Bulawayo and TTI will jointly conduct a survey of medical facilities, including hospitals and pharmacies, in the city. The purpose of this survey is to identify areas where additional emergency parking bays can be allocated.
Senator Coltart explained, “We understand the importance of having accessible parking spaces near medical facilities, especially for those facing emergencies. We want to reduce any barriers that may prevent individuals from receiving urgent medical care.”
To enhance customer service, TTI will conduct refresher courses and further training for its employees. The goal is to reinforce good customer care practices and promote the spirit of Ubuntu, a term that encompasses compassion and empathy towards others.
Lizwe Mabuza, TTI Managing Director, expressed his commitment, stating, “We believe in providing excellent service to the people of Bulawayo. Our employees will undergo training to ensure that they approach their jobs with a customer-centric mindset.”
Furthermore, the City of Bulawayo will review its internal processes regarding the acquisition of carriageway exemption discs for Senior Citizens. This move aims to simplify the process for seniors and remind them of the necessary documentation required for exemption.
Senator Coltart emphasised, “We want to ensure that our senior citizens do not face unnecessary challenges when it comes to parking. It is important that they are aware of the requirements and are able to easily obtain their carriageway exemption discs.”
Lastly, the City of Bulawayo and TTI will embark on an educational campaign aimed at raising public awareness about the City’s Clamping and Tow Away By Laws. The campaign will inform the public about the do’s and don’ts when it comes to parking enforcement.
Senator Coltart stressed, “We believe that education is key to fostering a better understanding of parking regulations. By raising awareness, we hope to reduce parking violations and create a more harmonious parking environment.”
These measures demonstrate the City of Bulawayo’s commitment to improving its parking management system and ensuring a better experience for all residents and visitors. Through the collaboration with TTI, the City aims to address concerns, provide efficient services, and promote understanding of parking regulations. With these changes, Bulawayo’s parking management system is set to become more customer-oriented and user-friendly.
