BVTA and Partners Constructs A New Solar-Powered Trading Demo Bay for Informal Traders
BVTA and other partners with the support of We Effect in the CIVSAM programme, is constructing a revolutionary new trading Demo Bay designed to provide safer working conditions and promote cleaner energy usage in the marketplace.
In an interview with BVTA Executive Director Michael Ndiweni, he expressed his enthusiasm for the project and its potential positive impact.
“We are excited to introduce this new trading Demo Bay, which will not only provide a unique and enjoyable experience for informal traders and shoppers, but also set a new standard for sustainable and safe market spaces.”
The Upgrade
Ndiweni indicated that the new demo trading bay will be powered by solar energy and equipped with lights, phone chargers, and speakers, making it a convenient and modern space for informal traders to conduct their businesses.
In addition to that, the new vending demo bay will also provide much-needed protection from all types of bad weather, including rain, wind, and heat. This will not only ensure the safety and comfort of the traders but also enable them to continue their businesses regardless of weather conditions.
“This is an important step in promoting cleaner energy, safer working conditions, and a more vibrant marketplace. The vending demo bay will provide a unique and enjoyable experience for both informal traders and shoppers,” stated the Executive Director.
Furthermore, Ndiweni revealed that the materials used materials used in the construction of the Demo Bay are tabled for approval by Bulawayo City Council.
MALI Project
This project is part of the MALI project, a partnership between BVTA and various partners, including Emthonjeni Women’s Forum. Through the MALI project, BVTA aims to empower informal traders by providing them with the necessary tools and resources to enhance their businesses.
Ndiweni emphasized the opportunities this project creates for informal traders. He stated, “By providing a safer and more vibrant marketplace, the Demo Bay offers informal traders a more vibrant marketplace that will attract more customers and increase their sales.”
As the materials for the Demo Bay are tabled for approval by Bulawayo City Council, BVTA and its partners are excited about the potential success of this project.
The Vision
They envision a future where this innovative and environmentally friendly trading space becomes the benchmark for sustainable and safe market spaces.
The construction of the trading Demo Bay, powered by solar energy, represents a significant opportunity for informal traders in Bulawayo. With its modern amenities and protection from adverse weather conditions, this new space is set to transform the way informal traders conduct their businesses.
Lastly, BVTA and its partners are working tirelessly to ensure that this project not only meets the needs of the traders but also contributes to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
