Eyethu: A Taste of Authentic African Cuisine
In a world where fast food and heavily processed meals dominate the market, finding healthy and nutritious food can be a challenge. However, one company is breaking the mold by offering organic and authentic African cuisine to its customers.
Eyethu, a five months old company founded by Martin Mlilo, takes its name from his son Owethu. Mlilo noticed that many people were consuming unhealthy foods that were high in fats, sugar, and additives. He believes that African food is inherently healthy and can provide the necessary nutrients and vitamins that the human body needs.
Eating Organic
“I grew up eating organic foods from my family’s farm,” Mlilo explains. “It was a way of life for us. Today, people have moved away from organic and authentic foods. I wanted to bring back that tradition and help people rediscover the benefits of real African cuisine.”
Additionally, Mlilo sources his ingredients from rural areas, where he can find organic products that are free from harmful pesticides. He also avoids using preservatives in his products, meaning that the food he produces is of the highest quality and maintains its authentic taste.
Healthier Life
“I believe that by using organic ingredients and avoiding preservatives, I can offer a healthier alternative to people,” Mlilo adds. “I want to promote a healthier lifestyle through the food we eat.”
Eyethu specializes in African food with a focus on organic products. Mlilo believes that by sticking to traditional African recipes and using organic ingredients, he can offer a unique and healthy product that customers love.
However, convincing people to give up their westernized diet can be challenging. Mlilo admits that many people only discover the importance of eating healthy and nutritious food after being diagnosed with a certain disease.
Switching Diets
“It’s not easy to convince people to switch to a healthier diet,” Mlilo explains. “But I believe that once people try our food, they will see the benefits. We have had customers who have switched to our products after being diagnosed with diseases like diabetes. They have found our products to be healthy and delicious.”
Furthermore, Eyethu markets its products through social media platforms such as WhatsApp and by approaching small retail outlets. Mlilo believes that word of mouth is the best form of advertising and is happy to see more people discovering the benefits of his products.
“I want people to know that the food they eat can be medicine for their body,” Mlilo says. “If you eat healthy food, you can avoid a doctor. Our products are designed to provide the necessary nutrients and vitamins that your body needs.”
In addition to providing healthy and nutritious food, Mlilo believes that Eyethu can help promote a happy and healthy nation.
Our Wellbeing
“The food we eat has a direct impact on our health and wellbeing,” Mlilo explains. “If we eat unhealthy foods, we can become sick and unhappy. By eating healthy and nutritious food, we can promote a happier and healthier nation.”
Moreover, as Eyethu continues to grow and expand, Mlilo remains committed to his core values of using organic ingredients and offering authentic African cuisine.
“I want to remain true to our roots and our culture,” Mlilo adds. “By promoting authentic African cuisine, I hope to encourage people to return to their roots and rediscover the benefits of organic and healthy food.”
Lastly, their baobab yoghurt was applauded by Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Dr Sithembiso Nyoni during the MSME International Commemoration Day.
