Quality Motors Proprietor on the Run for Fraud of Over 106k Dollars
Police in Bulawayo have launched a manhunt for Itai Chipfakanya (43) in connection with a fraud cases who allegedly scammed vehicle customers a total of USD $106 000 in nine counts.
According to Bulawayo Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube, Chipfakanya is the proprietor of Quality Motors in Bulawayo, is accused of deceiving nine unsuspecting individuals by promising to import motor vehicles on their behalf.

Fraudulent Car Import Scheme
“Circumstances are that the accused person who is a proprietor of Quality Motors in Bulawayo dealing in buying and selling of motor vehicles, misrepresented himself to 9 unsuspecting complainants promising them to import motor vehicles of their choice on their behalf,” said Inspector Ncube.
He added, “From the period ranging from September 2021 up to September 2023 Itayi Chipfakanya has been collecting money from the complaints promising to avail their motor vehicles within 6 weeks. After the lapse of the agreed time the accused person started becoming evasive and failed to deliver. His cell phones are no longer reachable leading to the complainants making police reports.”
The victims, who had a variety of vehicles in mind ranging from a Toyota Fortuner to a Nissan Juke, suffered a total loss of USD $106,000.
Wanted Suspect: Urgent Information
Inspector Ncube urged anyone with information on Chipfakanya’s whereabouts to come forward and assist in his arrest. He also emphasised the importance of reporting any suspicious activity to the authorities to prevent further incidents of fraud.
Inspector Ncube said, “We are appealing to the public to provide any information that may lead to the arrest of Itayi Chipfakanya. Fraud is a serious offense and we are committed to bringing perpetrators to justice.”
As the search for Chipfakanya continues, the police are urging anyone with information to contact the Officer In charge CID Commercial Crimes Division or report to the nearest police station.
