Haventale Catering and Bakery Group: Empowering Youth and Delighting Taste Buds
In a world where job opportunities are scarce, a group of skilled and determined youths from Adventist members church came together, realizing the potential of their culinary talents. Thus, the inception of Haventale Catering and Bakery Group was born – a pastry company that not only produces delectable baked goods but also offers exceptional catering services for various events.
Bakery Managing Director, Nkosi Mkwananzi, who is one of the founders of Haventale, shared the vision behind their business journey. “We believe in the power of incorporating our customers’ needs with our skills, expertise, and experience,” he said. “Listening to our customers and mentors, along with self-evaluation, has been the cornerstone of our success.”
Despite the challenge of members being scattered and their skills disjointed, Haventale persists in delivering top-quality products and services. Utilizing the internet for effective communication and collaborating with like-minded companies in the industry have helped bridge the gaps. Moreover, the guidance from mentors and stakeholders has proven great value in securing catering events and maintaining performance even in the absence of their main workforce.
Setting high standards has been key in distinguishing Haventale from the competition. Employing specific recipes and working methods, the company ensures a customer-centric approach by understanding each individual’s preferences and desires. This enables them to consistently deliver loved and high-quality products and services.
The year 2020 marked a turning point for Haventale. A business seminar opened the founders’ eyes to the importance of community engagement and the immense growth potential that lies within youth entrepreneurship. Building upon this realization, Haventale embarked on a series of impactful business seminars, aimed at inspiring young aspiring entrepreneurs in Cowdray Park. Inviting experienced business personnel and lawyers to share their knowledge, the seminars equipped attendees with valuable insights into starting and growing successful ventures.
Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the community, Haventale continues to engage and uplift. The recent setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have necessitated internal adaptations, such as working with fewer cooks. Emphasizing their unique taste palette and sourcing higher-quality ingredients internationally, Haventale strives to leave a lasting and memorable impression on their customers.
Despite the challenges faced, Haventale’s success story is one of determination and resilience. Within just 18 months of its inception, the company has baked an impressive number of mouthwatering treats, including 1,600 samosas, 4,000 scones, 600 cupcakes, and 1,000 muffins.
Brand Identity
The brand’s identity has firmly taken root within Cowdray Park, with loyal customers even affectionately referring to their favorite treat as “My Haventale Scone” on local radio stations. Fueling their ambition to reach even more people, Haventale has made its mark and established a strong foundation.
Looking to the future, Haventale already has plans for expansion. With members in South Africa actively working towards establishing a branch there, and further interest in expanding toward Lupane, the company’s geographical footprint is set to expand. Moreover, Haventale envisions venturing into agriculture and charitable initiatives in the short term, solidifying their commitment to holistic growth.
As Haventale continues to thrive and inspire, the community can count on their expertise and exceptional services for any event, be it a graduation, funeral, church gathering, or wedding. Moreover, future endeavors include hosting more business seminars and cookery projects, nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit within the community.
